It's Nesting Season again at Gatorland!

There have been record numbers of photographers at Gatorland the past couple of weeks to see all of the wading bird hatchlings on their amazing breeding marsh. It's truly an incredible sight - these birds are able to nest at eye height since the gators keep their typical predators at bay. You can see up close how they look after their precious eggs and chicks. I've been banging on about how much I love this time of the year so Alex came over to see the bird nesting action too which was a double treat:)

The gators are so well fed that the birds don't have to worry about them at all:)

We even saw a male emu turning his eggs!

I love feeding the goats in return for selfies...

Those chicks are so cute!

And we saw the deer being fed too...

It wasn't too hot and we had a perfect day - thanks for coming Alex!

WE HAVE THE KEYS!!!! OMG!!!!!

Happy St Patrick’s Day!

We ended Maddy's Spring Break visit with a drive on Lake Apopka Nature Drive where we got to see Florida wildlife at it's finest. We will definitely do this one again:)

And her last weekend was St Patrick's Day so we went to Hollywood Studios to celebrate while the corned beef and cabbage was in the crockpot...

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Celebrating David Bowie :)

Mike treated me to a very special night out to see a group of musicians who performed with David Bowie during his career. The lead singers included Sting's son who was really amazing. It was an intimate, energetic and very special night. I absolutely loved it!

Spring Break!

Maddy is home for a week so we are enjoying some family time. We went to see the manatee in Blue Springs Park...

There were 69 still in the spring...

And I managed to get a photo of a pileated woodpecker finally! So handsome...

While she is home we are making plans for the big trip to Canada this Summer when we will drop Maddy off for a 3 month internship rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife. So excited for her:)

The best time of the year!

This weekend we took advantage of the milder weather and did the nature trail at one of our favorite places, the Oakland preserve...

I saw a huge pileated woodpecker!!

We have the cold front for at least a week so we'll be spending as much time walking outside  as possible - Florida is so lovely right now!

Park life:)

It's a great time of year for the Parks (since it's not too busy or hot) so we made the most of it while Leanne was in town at Magic Kingdom!

And at Animal Kingdom for Cormac's birthday too!
