Happy Easter!

After a great night out with the fabulous Geraci family watching the Yankees humiliate themselves against the Rays :(, we headed over to Nana's for Easter Sunday!

The Easter egg hunt was fast and furious this year - Maddy had no time for pictures...

I got one of Mya running backwards with her stash...

And the happiest of them all?...

Happy Easter!

Katie, the Robot Baby

A huge part of Maddy's Health class grade for the entire semester depended on the crazy robot baby project! For those of you who are not familiar, school children select an electronic baby and take it home to care for for a weekend. When it cries, they have to figure out what's wrong and either: change the diaper, hold it, feed it, burp it etc. The child has a wrist band with a chip in it that they have to wear so that they can't 'delegate' responsibility to someone else. Like their parents for example :).

Maddy discovered pretty quickly that the baby will register as 'feeding' if you just prop the bottle in it's mouth and go back to sleep...awesome..

Unfortunately, we had the wrong diapers and so the baby cried for ages even when Maddy had changed it correctly.

Quotes from the weekend included:

Mike: "I think it's cute", "I hope it likes Dallas"

Clare: "Just put a pillow over it", "leave it in the car"

Maddy: "I don't even care anymore - I hope it cries", "it's not at all like a real baby - it just cries and you don't know what it wants","this is so stupid - I don't even want a baby - I'm only 12"

Anyway, it was just as unpleasant as intended and we were happy to return baby Katie on Monday morning :)

Braving the Rock 'n Roller Coaster!

After a really busy last few days running around all over the place, we managed to squeeze in a great night out at Disney Hollywood Studios!

The newly relaunched 'Fantasmic!' show was just amazing!!

Most people don't know that I have developed a bit of phobia of roller coasters over the past few years. It's becoming a bit of a problem now that Maddy doesn't have anyone to ride with if we're ever at a park on our own :(. I've been promising myself I'll do some 'exposure therapy' and force myself to brave a ride or two (it's so crazy - I used to love roller coasters) but have been putting it off for a while now. Anyway, this is the year that I've decided to 'face my fears.' Specifically the goal for 2012 is to ride every one of the Florida Disney theme park attractions. Last night I decided to brave one of the 'big ones' and do the Aerosmith Rock 'n Roller Coaster! I had two beers to summon up the courage, grit my teeth, and held onto Maddy's hand for dear life. Just 1 minute 22 seconds later I was all done! Rock On!!!

There are so many attractions at Disney Hollywood Studios and we didn't even scratch the surface in one night! And Tower of Terror? I'm coming after you soon...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day fell on a Yankees game day this year and the Kelly family were in town too!

It was such a beautiful day for a baseball game...

Only an idiot falls for a marketing trick like overpriced green Yankees clothing that only really makes sense if there happens to be a game on March 17th...

Can't imagine why my judgement was impaired...

My favorite part of the game :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

More HOB...

We didn't get in until about 4am and woke up late and starving hungry after the GNR show. So it was back to the House of Blues for the Sunday Gospel Brunch!! They had completely transformed in just a few hours and the show was absolutely uplifting and beautiful. We were on our feet, clapping and singing. Much like the previous night actually :)

On Mum's last Sunday here it was actually Mother's Day in the UK. We went to Animal Kingdom to celebrate. It was totally pouring with rain so we weren't quite sure what to expect. Actually the animals weren't put off at all by all of the water and we got to see some animals up close and personal for the first time!

So that's the end of our visitors and we get the house back to ourselves for the first time in about 6 weeks. I see lots of episodes of Dallas in our future...
