Maddy's 3rd Birthday!

We went all out for Maddy's 3rd Birthday party! We had a cowboy/girl theme and put all of the party favors in cowboy hats with bandanas in them. We even had balloons to match the new color scheme that we painted the house in!

Tired, sweaty and dirty - but there are gifts to be opened...

Now I can relax with my real-life favorite cowboy...

Cape Canaveral and 911

Our State Senator appealed to all Florida residents to go to a theme park to stimulate the Florida economy after the devastating impact of 911. We decided to go to Kennedy Space Center and had a fantastic time. Maddy fell in love with the 'photo opp' guy in an astronaut outfit and called him the "Moon Man." She gave a thumbs up whenever you asked her about him just like he did in the photos he was posing in with tourists...

I was so relieved that 911 happened at a time when Maddy was too small to understand what was going on. When she saw the TV footage all that she said was "it's hot, mommy" whenever it showed the plane that hit the second tower burst into flames. About a week after 911 she saw the HazMat teams in their protective equipment on the TV footage about the subsequent anthrax scares. She said "look mommy - the moon man!" and held up her little thumb. I'll never forget it - it made me cry...
