Florida Banana Spider
One of the many reasons that we love Florida is the spectactular wildlife here. We saw this fabulous Florida Banana Spider (technically it's a Golden Silk Orb-Weaver - not to be confused with the deadly Brazilian Banana Spider thankfully) in Matt and Liz's garden yesterday. They are the largest non-tarantula spiders in North America and harmless to humans. This lady spider was about 3-4 inches long but apparently they can grow even bigger and one has actually been photographed eating a bird. A bird!! A bird for God's sake!!!
