Edward Scissorhands

I found out this week completely by accident that Edward Scissorhands (one of my favorite movies:)) was filmed in a Florida suburb only about 8 miles from our neighborhood. Turns out that the residents of Tinsmith Circle in Carpenters Run, Lutz were paid to have their houses painted and some actually moved out for the 3 months of filming there. All houses were returned to their previous colors after the movie was done. Apparently the production office was in Saddlebrook, the scenes on the hill with Edward's creepy house at the top were filmed just north of Dade City and the mall that was featured was the one in Lakeland. We were over that way anyway so we stopped by to see if the neighborhood has changed much in the last 20 years. Here was how you may remember it looked in the movie...

And here's Dianne West showing Johnny Depp into her home...

And here it is today! The street light on the left is the one by the car in the picture above and the fence is the same one as in the movie.

How bizarre!
