Africa Wild Trek Experience!

For our work teambuilder this quarter we went on an amazing 3-hour safari trek through the Safi River Valley at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park!

We fed the hippos from about 10 feet away...

 

 

...and then made our way over a very shaky rope bridge to the crocodiles...

 

 

I couldn't resist getting some pictures - for an awesome profile pic on Facebook...:)  

 

 

 

After the crocs, we rode in a safari vehicle over an open savanna teeming with all kinds of native African creatures, from towering giraffes to majestic wildebeest...

 

 

Our knowledgeable guides answered all of our questions and shared little-known insights on the animals on view as well as the general operation of Disney’s Animal Kingdom park.

And the view was breathtaking...
 

 

Throughout the experience a professional photographer took pictures of us with the animals of the Harambe Reserve. At the end of the expedition, we all received a CD at no additional charge capturing literally hundreds of photos from our incredible day. Turns out I didn't need to risk my life on the rope bridge after all :). Best day at work. Ever. :)

The new camper!

Rich and Jen have a brand new camper! Maddy went to stay with them for their first family weekend away and had a fantastic time. The girls loved the mini golf...

 

The camper is really homely, has it's own shower and bathroom and sleeps up to 9 people!!!

 

 

Jen and Rich did a great job on their first trip of many. Congratulations!!

 

Family Night at Magic Kingdom

Richard III

I know that this has been all over the international news but for those of you that may have missed it, the body of one of England's most famous kings, Richard III, was found recently in Leicester! Not only is it my old home town but the burial location was actually my school's playgound! I walked over a king every day for years!! The whole story is here...

Here is the excavation site and the blue tarps are where the actual body was found. The building on the left used to belong to my middle and high school, Leicester Grammar School. It was sold to Leicester City Council a few years back and the playground converted into a parking lot. You can see the arched door about half way down which used to be the main door to the school...

 

And in front of the door - my school friends from that time (I am not in the photo)...

 

And here I am on just the other side of the street (you can see the school building on the right of the photo) - going to class :). I know I know...haven't changed a bit, right?...
